The shorter days and longer nights of fall and winter can really affect the way some people feel. In fact, science tells us that our body’s circadian clock monitors changes in day length and works as an internal time clock. It tells us when to feel tired and when to wake up. It also plays a big role in our hormone regulation and mood.


Decreased sunlight during the fall and winter days can disrupt and affect the way some people feel. You may find yourself wanting to sleep and eat more simply because it’s too hard to focus. Maybe you start to withdraw from social events simply because you don’t have the energy to be around people. If any of these situations sound familiar, you might be experiencing seasonal depression.


Seasonal Affective Disorder is a type of depression that usually appears during the winter months. It can drain your energy and change your mood when left untreated. Fortunately, there are some things you can do to help you make a smooth transition to the fall/winter months.
